Prohibited & Restricted Items

Check before you purchase
Do not ship goods that are prohibited by law, customs, a carrier or safety rules. Restricted goods may be accepted only when the required permit and prior approval are available. Official lists change, so an example list is not a final clearance decision.
Examples of prohibited goods
- Illegal drugs and unlawful controlled substances.
- Prohibited weapons, ammunition, explosives and weapon components.
- Counterfeit, pirated or otherwise unlawful goods.
- Dangerous chemicals, hazardous materials or goods refused by the carrier.
- Any item prohibited from importation by Jamaican authorities.
Examples of restricted goods
- Certain food, agricultural, plant, animal and animal-product items.
- Medicines and regulated health products.
- Radio or telecommunications equipment.
- Vehicles, fireworks and other goods that require agency approval.

What may happen
A prohibited, restricted, unsafe or inaccurately declared item may be held, refused, returned, surrendered to an authority, disposed of where legally permitted, reported or charged reasonable resulting costs.
